AIMS By the end of the lesson, students will be able to : - talk about popular festivals. - remember vocabulary: festival, Christmas, New Year’s Eve - the structure: When is Tet? It’s January 1st . - practice reading, speaking. B. TEACHING AIDS: TV, laptop, board, textbook. C. PROCEDURES: I.Warm – up and review: Students sing the song: My Mummy. Teacher says the days: 1-6, 24 -12, Tet, 15 – 8, and asks students: What do we call these days? Students answer. II. Pre – teach: Vocabulary: festival lễ hội Christmas Lễ Noel/ Lễ Giáng sinh. AIMS: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - talk about popular festivals. - remember again vocabulary: festival, Christmas, New Year. - practice reading, speaking. B. TEACHING AIDS: TV, laptop, board, textbook. B. Procedures: I.Warm – up: Students look at the pictures and read the words: Christmas. New Year Ask students to work in pairs: Example: S1: When is New Year? S2: It’s on the first of January. II. Practice: 1. Listen and tick: Ask students to look at the pictures at page 31. Ask students to identify the festivals in the pictures.. Play the recording through for students to listen. Play the recording again for the students to listen and tick the correct answers. Play the recording once more for students to check their answers. Sharing and comparing. Teacher checks and corrects. 2. Look and write: Ask students to open the books and look at the pictures then do the task individually. Sharing and comparing. Teacher checks and corrects. Call some students write the words.. Further Practice: Let’s sing. - Tell pupils that they are going to sing the song HAPPY NEW YEAR? - Teach the song, following the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction. First, have pupils read each line of the lyrics aloud. Do choral and individual repetition and check comprehension. Then, play the recording all the way through. Ask pupils to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line.- When pupils are familiar with the tune, ask two groups of pupils to the front of the class. One group sings the questions and the other sings the answers. Have the rest of the class sing together and clap hands. IV. Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - listen and understand the content carefully. - remember vocabulary and the structures: What do you do at Tet? I .. - practice reading, speaking. B. TEACHING AIDS: TV, laptop, board, textbook. C. PROCEDURES: I.Warm – up: And ask students to work in pairs. Example: . S1: When’s Children’s Day? S2: It’s a on the first of June. S1: What do you do at Tet? S2: I visit my grandparents. II. Practice: 1. Listen and circle. Ask students to look at the pictures on page 32 and asks them to identify the festivals in the pictures. Play the recording through for students to listen. Play the recording again for the students to listen and circle the correct answers. Play the recording once more for students to check their answers. Sharing and comparing. Teacher checks and corrects. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to and circle the correct answers. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and tick the correct pictures. - Get pupils to swap their answers before you check as a class. Look and write. - Tell pupils that they are going to complete the sentences - Give them a few seconds to look at the questions and the incomplete answers and to identify the missing words they need to complete the answers. Then focus pupils on the pictures to identify Get pupils to work in pairs, if necessary.- Get them time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help, if necessary. Get pupils to swap their answers before checking as a class. If there is enough time, call some pairs to role-play the dialogues III. Further Practice: Ask students to work in pairs. IV.
