1. Duc Lang primary school ENGLISH 5- The 2nd semester Week 32: UNIT 18: WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TOMORROW? Period 123: Lesson 3(4, 5, 6,7) I. Objectives. After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic: weather and seasons. - Develop Ss reading and writing skills. II.Language focus. 1. Vocabulary: dry, wet. 2. Sentence Patterns: review III. Teaching aids. - Equipments in English room. - Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Spend a few minutes having the class say the chant: What will the weather be like tomorrow? C. New lesson. 4. Read and do the tasks 4.1. Complete the passage - Tell the class that they are going to read the text and complete the gapped passage with the words from the box. - Get them to read the sentences and underlined the new words or phrases. - Explain the meaning of new words or new phrases. - Set a time limit for them to do the task. - Get pupils to swap and read their answer in pairs - Call some Students to give the answer - Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation. Then they should look for the relevant information. - Set a time limit for Students to do the task independently. - Monitor the activity and offer help,if necessary. - Ask Ss to compare their answers before checking as a class. - Have Ss give answers. - Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation. 5. Write about the seasons and weather. - Tell Ss that they are going to write about season and weather. - Give them time to read the gapped sentences and thinks about the words to fill the gaps. - Set a time limit for Ss to do the task independently. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Ask some Students to read aloud their writing. - Give feedback. 6. Project - Tell class that they are going to watch the weather forecast tomorrow at home. - Ask Students to report it to the class in the next period. 7. Colour the stars. - Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension. - Give the time to colour the star and invite a few Ss to read the statement aloud. - Give further support to Ss who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives. After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Using the words and phrases related to the topic: Places to visit and Opinions on places. II. Language focus. - The vocabulary: pagoda, beautiful, museum,... - The structure: Which place would you like to visit, .... or ....? I’d like to visit...... III. Teaching aids. Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Having the class read the chant “What will the weather be like tomorrow?” - Invite two or three groups to say the chant and do actions in front of the class before introducing Lesson 1. C. New lesson. 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Tell the pupils that they are going to practise talking about the outdoor activities and Ask Ss look at the picture and answer the questions ? How many people in the first picture? ?Who are they? ?What are they doing? -Ask Students to look at the book and listen to the tape - Play the recording for Ss listen - Ask them repeat a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. Point and say. -Ask Students to look at pictures, then answer the questions: + How many pictures are there in part 2? + Can you guess the name of each picture? - Tell the class that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about visiting a place of internet, using “Which place would you like to visit,... or ...? I’d like to visit .... - Teach the meaning of the words under each picture and how to say them. - Ask pupils to practise saying the answer “ I’d like to visit...with the words under the pictures. - Point at each picture and ask the question Which place would you like to visit,...or ...? for pupils to answer. - Invite two pairs to ask and answer the questions in this section. 3. Let’s talk -Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about the places they would like to visit. -Get Students to work in groups of four . -Remind them to use the questions and answers in their books -Set a time limit for the class to practise -Monitor the activity and offer help,if necessary. -Call some Students to practise in front of the class. -Give feedback. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. Play a game: What’s missing? -Model playing. C. New lesson. 4. Listen and complete -Tell Students that they are going to and circle a or b to answer the questions. Warm up. - Get the class sing the Which place would you like to visit? song. C. New lesson. 1.Look, listen and repeat. - Introduce picture and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: + Who are they in the picture? + What are they talking about? +What does Tom think of the visit to Tran Quoc Pagoda -Ask Students to look at the book and listen to the tape - Play the recording for Ss listen - Ask them repeat a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Play the recording through. - Practice with Ss. - Divide the class into 2 groups.
