1. Duc Lang primary school ENGLISH 5- The 2nd semester Week 29: UNIT 16: WHERE’S THE POST OFFICE? Period 111: Lesson 3(4,5,6,7) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - say questions and answers with the correct intonation. - Pronunciation: intonation Where’s the post office? It’s opposite the stadium. - Develop listening and speaking skills and pronunciation. II. Language focus. - Vocabulary: review - Structures: review III. Teaching aids: Textbook, TV, laptop. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Spend a few minutes having the class say the chant How can we get there? And do actions. - Introduces the new lesson. C. New lesson. 4. Read and do the tasks. 1. Label the places. - Tell Ps that they are going to read the passage and label the places on the map. - Explain the unfamiliar words. - Asks students to read a passage in silence. - Asks students to observe the map, identify the street and scan the passage quickly to find the missing street and place names. - Asks students to report the answer to the class Key: 1. Write the directions. - Tell Ps that they are going to write the directions, using the map. - Give them time to read the map and the questions. - Ask them to work in pairs. - Swap their answers and compare what they have written before checking as a class. - Invite some pairs to act out the exchanges and give feedback. 6. Project. - Tell Ps that they are going to draw a simple map to show the way to their home from their school. - Ask them to work in groups and decide whose home they will use to draw the map. Ps should write notes to give directions from the home to their school. 7. Colour the stars. - Have Ps read the statements and check their comprehension. - Give Ps time to colour the stars and invite a few Ps to read the statements aloud. - Give further support to pupils who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives. After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic: Heathy food and drink. - Ask and answer questions about what someone would like to eat or drink. II. Language focus. 1. Vocabulary: a bowl/ packet/ bar/glass/carton/bottle of ., sausage, egg, biscuit, chocolate. 2. Sentence Patterns: A: What would you like to eat? B: I’d like............,please III. Teaching aids. - Equipments in English room. - Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. IV. Procedures A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up - Have the class talk about directions, using the map they made for Unit 16 lesson 3. C. New lesson. 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer the questions: + Who is he/she? + Where are they? What food can you see? - Have them look at the book and listen to the tape. - Play the recording for Ss listen. - Ask them to repeat a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the rest pictures. Point and say. - Ask Ss to look at picture C in part 1 again. - Have them read the question in the picture. - Write the question on the board. - Teach Ss how to answer: A: What would you like to drink? B: I’d like a carton of apple juice, please - Ask Ss to change the underlined words to have another answers. - Introduce new words: a packet of biscuit, a bar of chocolate, a carton of lemonade. - Say aloud for Students to repeat. - Ask Ss to ask and answer the pictures a, b, c, d. - Call some pairs to practise in front of the class. 3. Let’s talk. - Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about what you want to eat. - Get Ss to work in groups of four to ask and answer. - Remind them to use the questions and answers in their books What would you like to eat/drink? I’d like ,please. - Set a time limit for the class to practise. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Call some Ss to practise in front of the class. - Give feedback. D. After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic: Healthy food and drink - Listen to the recording and tick the correct pictures. - Sing the song: healthy eating and drinking - Develop 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. II. Language focus. 1. Vocabulary: a bowl/ packet/ bar/glass/carton/bottle of ., sausage, egg, biscuit, chocolate. 2. Sentence Patterns: review A: What would you like to eat? Read and complete. - Tell the class that they are going to read and fill the gaps with food, heath, eat, sandwich and lunch. - Give Students a few times to read the sentences. - Remind Students to focus on the context to select the appopriate words from the box. - Set a time limit for Students to do the task independently. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Ask Students to give answers. - Ask other Students to give feedback. - Correct. 6. Let’s sing. Healthy eating and drinking - Ask Ss to open their Student’s book on page 47. Show the song on the board. Tell them that they are going to sing the healthy eating and drinking song. - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the song. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Play the recording once more for Ss to repeat the whole song. - Call on some Ss to sing the song in front of the class. The rest of the class claps their hands at rhythms. - Ask some questions to impress thae main contents of the lesson. D. Consolidation. - Have Ss practise singing the song at home. After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic : Healthy food and drink - Ask and answer questions about quantity of food and drink. - Develop Ss listening and speaking skills. II. Language focus. 1. Vocabulary: bananas, rice, sausages, water 2. Sentence Patterns: A: How many/much ..do you eat/drink everyday? B: I eat/ drink III. Teaching aids: TV, laptop, textbook, board. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Get the class to sing the healthy eating and drinking song. C. New lesson 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Introduce pictures and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: + Who are they in the picture? + Where are they? - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to a dialogue between Linda and Mai - Ask Ss to look at the book and listen to the tape. - Play the recording for Ss listen. - Ask them repeat a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the rest pictures. - Play the recording through. - Practice with Ss. - Divide the class into 2 groups.
