1. Duc Lang primary school ENGLISH 5- The 2nd semester UNIT 15: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN THE FUTURE? Period 99: Lesson 3(1,2,3) I. Objectives. After the lesson, Ss will be able to: -Intonation the sentences:- What’s would you like to be in the future? - I’d like to be a nurse. II. Language focus. - The vocabulary: - The structure: III. Teaching aids. Students’ book, board, TV, laptop. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Play the game: Pelmanism C. New lesson. 1. Listen and repeat. -Tell the class that they are going to practice saying question and answers with falling intonation. -Ask Students to look at the book and listen - Play the recording for Ss listen again -Call some Students listen and follow in their books. Play it again to do choral repetition until they feel confident. - Others give comments. - T gives comments. - Correct mistakes of pronunciation 2. Listen and mark the sentences intonation. Ask the class to read the sentences aloud. 3.Let’s chant - Tell class that they are going to say the chantWhat would you like to be in the future? - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen and follow in their books. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Play the recording once more for Ss to repeat the whole chant. -Put the class into two groups to practise chanting: one chants the questions and the other chants the answers -Have them practise chanting and doing actions in groups -Invite two or three groups to say the chant and do actions -Give feedback. -Ask the class to listen again and chant D. Language focus. - The vocabulary: astronaut, spaceship, planets - The structure: - What would you like to be in the future? - I’d like to III. Teaching aids. Students’ book, board, TV, laptop. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Spend a few minutes having the class say the chant: What would you like to be in the future? C. New lesson. 4. Read and tick True (T) or false(F) -Tell the class that they are going to read the text and tick True or False -Get them to read the passages and underlined the new words or new phrases -Explain the meaning of new words or new phrases -Ask Students to read the text again and do the task -Set a time limit for Students to do the task independently -Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. -Ask Students to compare their answers before checking as a class -Ask Students to give answers 1. Project - Tell class that they are going to do a drawing a poster about what would you like to be in the future and tell class about it. -Ask Students to draw their jobs -Set a time limit for them to do the task -Invite some Students to present their drawings to the class and talk about them. -Give feedback 7. Colour the stars. -Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension -Give the time to colour the star and invite a few Students to read the statement aloud -Give further support to Students who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives. By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: Sentence pattern: Revise the Sentence pattern from unit 11 to unit 15 Vocabulary: Revise the vocabulary from unit 11 to unit 15 II. Language focus. - The vocabulary: Revise - The structure: Revise III. Teaching aids. Students’ book, board, TV, laptop. IV. Procedures A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Get Ps to play “Bang Bang” game. C. New lesson 1. Listen and tick. - Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the recording and write the correct pictures. - Give the class a few second to look at the pictures. Ask them to identify each character and what’s the matter with him/her or what he/she doing. - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen. - Play the second time and ask Ss to do the task. - Have Ss check their answers in pairs, then ask some Ss to report their answer to the class. - Gives the best answers. II. Language focus. Sentence pattern: Revise the Sentence pattern from unit 11 to unit 15 Vocabulary: Revise the vocabulary from unit 11 to unit 15 III. Teaching aids. Students’ book, board, TV, laptop. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up. - Get Ss to sing the song C. New lesson. 3. Listen and tick. - Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the recording and write one word in each gap. - Give the class a few second to read the gapped sentences and guess the answers based on the surrounding words. - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen. - Play the second time and ask Ss to do the task. - Have Ss check their answers in pairs, then ask some Ss to report their answer to the class. - Gives the best answers. Check their understanding and remind them when to use capital letters and where to put full stops and commas. - Give Ps time to do the task independently. - Go through the task with the whole class and let them do this individually. - Let Ps trade their answers in pairs for the correction. - Ask two Ps to read aloud their answers and check.
