Objectives: After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic: Weather - Listen to the recording and circle to complete the sentences. - Play the game: Making sentences. - Develop 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. II. Language focus 1. Vocabulary: review: 2. Sentence Patterns: review + What’s the weather like today? - It’s............and .. + What will the weather be like tomorrow? – It will be ....... and ...... III. Teaching aids. - Equipments in English room. - Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. IV. Procedures. A. Class organization. Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B. Warm up - Play a game: What’s missing? - Model playing. C. New lesson. 4. Listen and circle a, b or c. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and circle to complete the sentences. - Play the recording for Students to listen. - Ask Ss to listen again and do the task - Have them give answers. - Play the recording again for Ss to listen and check. Read and complete. - Tell the class that they are going to read and fill the gaps with weather/ watch/ forecast/ go/ stormy. - Give Students a few times to read the sentences. - Remind Students to focus on the context to select the appropriately words from the box. - Set a time limit for Students to do the task independently. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Ask Students to give answers. - Ask other Students to give feedback. - Correct. 6. Let’s play. Making sentences - Tell them that they are going to play Making sentences. - Explain how to play the game: + Put Students into groups of six + Give each group pictures and letters cards representing different weather (E.g. H for hot, C for cold, S for sunny .) + Pupils 1 in each group selects and arranges two or more letter cards on the desk (E.g. H and S) and asks What will the weather be like tomorrow? Pupil 2 answers It will be hot and sunny. + Pupils 3 then arranges the weather pictures in the correct order. + Pupils who did not get the correct answers/ pictures are out of the game. + Continue the game until there is only one pupil left in each group, and they are the winner - Ss play the game D. Warm up. - Play the game: Bingo C. New lesson. 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Introduce picture a and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: + Who are they in the picture? + Where are they? + What are they talking about? - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to a dialogue between Nam and Peter. - Ask Ss to look at the book and listen to the tape. - Play the recording for Ss listen. - Ask them repeat a few times. There are lots of flowers - Say aloud the sentence pattern for Ss to repeat. - Ask Ss to change underlined words to have another answers. - Teach the new words: spring, summer, winter, autumn - Say aloud for Students to repeat. - Have them ask and answer the pictures a, b, c, d. - Call some pairs practise in front of the class. - Make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the language. 3. Let’s talk. - Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about weather and seasons. - Get Ss to work in groups of four to ask each other`s addresses. - Remind them to use the questions and answers in their books: Where do you live? – I live .. How many season are there? – There are .. What are they? – They’re .. What’s your favourite season? – I like .. What’s spring/ summer .. like? Tell them that they are going to sing the The weather song song. - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the song. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Play the recording once more for Ss to repeat the whole song. - Call on some Ss to sing the song in front of the class. The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms. - Ask some questions to impress the main contents of the lesson. D. Consolidation. - Have Ss practise the sentence patterns at home.
