OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - pronounce the sound of the letter A/a. - say the words apple, bag, can, hat. II. INPUT Language: - Sound /ổ/ - Vocabulary: apple, bag, can, hat Resources/Material: - Student’s book p. 14 - Sachmem.vn - Flashcards for Unit 3 - Poster for Unit 3 - Teacher’s guide pp. 29-31 - Computer, projector III. PROCEDURE Warm-up – Listen and repeat – Point and say – Game - Homelink Procedure Teaching and learning activities Classroom management Warm-up 5 minutes - Greet the class and introduce your name. Have pupils Whole class greet and introduce themselves. - Option 1: Have one group of pupils sing the song on p. 11 in front of the class. The class claps their hands. - Option 2: Invite one pupil to sing the song with his/her own lyrics. - Option 3: Give pupils some flashcards (of a car, cup, cat, cake, book, bike, ) and let him/her talk about possession, e.g. I have a car. - Have pupils open the books and look at Unit 3, Lesson 1 p. 14, saying Open the books and look at Unit 3, Lesson Teacher: Nguyen Thi Thuy Lien School year: 2021-2022
2. Duc Lang primary school ENGLISH 1- The 2nd semester 1 (Page 14). 1. Listen and repeat 10 minutes Step 1: Open books open or access sachmem. Have pupils look at Whole class the picture, saying Look at the picture, please! and answer some questions such as Who are they? Where are they? And What are they doing? Draw pupils’ attention to the words next to the things and the colour of the letter A/a (as mentioned in Input in Teacher’s guide). Check comprehension. Ask pupils to point to the letter A/a. Have them listen and Step 2: repeat the sound of the letter A/a, saying Listen and repeat, Individual work please! more than once, if necessary. Tell pupils to point to the hat and the word hat, saying Individual work Point to the hat and the word “hat”. Ask them to listen and Step 3: repeat the word, saying Listen and repeat, please! Then play the recording again, if necessary, for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Repeat the same procedure with the words apple, bag and can. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Whole class Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the Step 4: letter A/a and the words apple, bag, can, hat and repeat in groups until they feel confident. Give further support to Group work those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. Step 5: Call a few pupils to pronounce the sound of the letter A/a and say the words apple, bag, can, hat in front of the class (you may say Great! when they perform well). Whole class Step 6: 2. Point and say 10 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the picture again, saying Look at the Whole class picture, please! Ask them to describe the picture. Draw their attention to the letter A/a and the things, if necessary. Get them to point to the letter A/a and say it, saying Point to the letter A/a and say, please! Ask pupils to point to the apple and say the word apple as a Step 2: model, saying Point and say, please! Then ask one pupil to Individual work point to the apple and to say the word apple in front of the class. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Follow the same procedure with other things. Go around and correct pronunciation, if necessary. With a better class, after the pupils become experts at the game, you can increase the difficulty. Write the words that Extension: pupils have learnt in the previous units such as ball, cake, cup, . Homelink 3 minutes Option 1: Pupils practise ppronouncing the sound of the letter A/a Whole class and saying the words bag, can, hat, apple (using Student’s books or sachmem).
